Today I ran some errands for the vacation. I stopped at a fabric store to get some sewing items and found some lovely magazines! Stampington & Company Altered Couture is for my vacation reading pleasure. Belle Armoire Jewelry and The Artistry of Clothing & Accessories are my blog give aways for July!

There is so much inspiration in the magazines!
Speaking of items being published...what are your thoughts about art whether it is clothing, a collage, a tag, a piece of jewelry, a journal...well for that matter anything that is published in a magazine that inspires us...is the "published" inspiration only for your viewing or for you to create something similar? I have been reading some blogs where the "artist" feels that his/her published inspiration is only for their proprietary use...meaning you "cannot" copy the idea or image. I feel once you put something on your blog, Flickr, or it is published...it is there to be shared and can be used for your inspiration on your next project whether it is for sewing or art. Would love to hear your comments?

I would love to be entered in your blog givaway! I adore both mags and they are expensive for me anyway! I think any idea for art is just FINE as in your examples, I say any media and comined is Awesome, I like mixed Media myself as I am not good in any ONE thing!
Usually, I also build on an idea not knowing where it will go and what it will end up being in the end.

Thank you for the giveaway and, as always, the wonderful images you post. I love Belle Armoire Jewelry I find it incredibly inspiring. You asked our opinions about reproducing what is published. I support the copyrights of the actual item, I may choose to make a piece for myself but I would never consider selling a reproduced piece. However, if a piece inspires me to create something else, not identical to the piece published then I am ok with that.

What a nice giveaway! I like to get inspiration from the arts and crafts publications and blogs. It also helps me to keep up with the latest techniques and materials. I hope that by publishing my art I can inspire others.

I believe we get inspiration from everywhere, including published work. I think it would be difficult to make an exact copy, but I guess it could be done. Usually, we like to express ourselves with at least a little bit of a difference.

I think that once something is published it's meant to be shared...to inspire others. I'm always thrilled when someone lets me know that they enjoy my projects and it makes me want to share more and more. Besides, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
I agree with Becky and some artists are very generous with the instructions they provide. Anyway that being said I would like to add that you need to be careful with what you post on your blog. People will steal your ideas and get published for it as their original ideas.
