January 2009 ~ First Monthly Blog Give Away!

INSPIRATION!
The other day I was reading some blogs that I visit often. I read on one blog that we are consistently offered inspiration but do not make the time to create. This is me...not by choice. Lupus often zaps all of your energy even for doing the simple things of everyday life much less the energy to create, go antique shopping or go out for a meal with DH. Over the holidays I received several wonderful art books and magazines in duplicate copy! So I am going to offer some of my duplicate items as blog give aways in the next several months.
My blog give away for this month is one of my new favorites!
Somerset in love
It has so many wonderful pages of inspiration! The projects are created by some wonderful artist.
To enter my blog give away, please leave a comment about what and where you get your inspiration to create. It's that simple!
So start your comments. Comments will close on Friday evening, January 9th. I will post the lucky winner on Saturday morning. This will allow me time to get this wonderful magazine to you in time to create something wonderful for your dear one for Valentine's Day. The only thing I ask is that you in turn post about my blog give away on your blog. OH...I forgot to mention that I always send extra vintage goodies for your creations.
Good luck!
Hope you have a great Wednesday!
Cheers, Sharon

What a wonderful giveaway! I get my inspiration from blogs like yours and sites like Flickr. Talking and planning things with friends is a huge inspiration as is working on a project with one of them.
It's hard to be inspired and yet not have the energy to do what you'd like - sending healing thoughts and energy your way! :) Nancy

What a great giveaway!! I love the Somerset magazines. I get my inspiration mainly from looking at other blogs. There is so much to see & such wonderful ladies to get to know!

Sharon,
That looks like a great magazine!!

I get my inspiration from other blogs. Dawn's is one of my favorites too. Yours is new to me and I am anxious to check it out too.
She hit the nail on the head for me about taking time to do the things we are inspired by, rather than just sit and get more ideas and not do anything.
That's been me lately. Just can't seem to settle down and get going.

Would love that new magaizne, as I've been looking for Valentine ideas.
I will post your giveaway on my blogs, but don't know how to get your picture there. I'll learn eventually.

Thanks for the nice giveaway.

Blessings,
Barbara Jean

This sure looks like a fabulous publication! Thanks for offering it as a giveaway.
I draw inspiration from the blog world, and also from clothing - esp children's clothing.

Hi Sharon I am new to your blog but when I read it was about inspiration I had to post. I have always had an artistic urge to create. I get my inspiration from everywhere. I can't really pin down where it comes from. But one thing I do know is that life and being busy can get in the way. So when I get and idea I sketch it or tear aut a picture so I don't lose it and I make time to just sit and create. Even a small project feeds that need. I find when I'm stressed it's when I haven't taken the time to just be creative. Sorry long post.

Sharon I would love to be included in your drawing for I would love to have that magazine(I haven't jumped on buying it yet). Also I will post a link on my space. You found the best source of inspiration for me... Dawn is one of the most talented, inspiring GIVING souls I have ever had the pleasure to call as my friend. Her talent blows me away!!!!!!! And I am addicted to the Somerset magazines. I spend so much time looking at blogs, buying/looking for goodies & reading the magazines that I don't have much created. I need to change that. Have a great week & I hope you have a lot of interest in your give away.

I'm inspired by magazines, blogs and the bits and pieces of "stuff" in my workroom. I love looking at something and all of a sudden what it could become "pops" into my head! I love that! Your blog looks very inspiring too! I'll mention your giveaway on mine.

PS I discussed you by visiting Dawn!

Thanks for the opportunity to win! There isn't a Somerset magazine publication I don't love! Their publications are incredible! I get inspiration from so many places....billboards, magazines, decorating shows and magazines, other talented gals' works, color combinations, sometimes just an old piece of lace or a piece of vintage ephemera, paint chips, blogs, just a photo I took, a piece of fabric...I think I could go on, but you get the idea....I'm always on the lookout for inspiration! Thanks to Dawn Edmunson for the link to your beautiful blog!

My resolution this year is to be more inspired creatively - so this beautiful book would help me well on my way!

I currently get a lot of inspiration from being outdoors in natures beauty (when my arthritis alllows).

When I'm stuck indoors, blogs and arty sites replace the trees and lakes with all the gorgeous shared eye candy.

This is my first visit to your blog and I've already added it to my favorites! I'm also a January girl (16th) so Happy Birthday to us all!! Please enter me in the drawing because I'm already drooling all over the keyboard just at the sight of the new Somerset! Nice to cyber-meet you!

Dawn's post really hit home w/ me too. I don't have the excuse of lupus either...just a lot of family responsibilities & I seem to have gotten lazy the past few months.

I would love to win your give-away & will post about it on my blog. Nice to meet you!

Hi Sharon, Thanks for such a great drawing! I found out about it from Dawn's post on her blog. I have to say this is a perfect drawing prize for me to win because I am a magazine junkie, I have literally hundreds (thousands?) and they are what I use for inspiration, ideas, motivation and just pure enjoyment. I love looking back over old issues and for my favorites, I just cannot cut them up! The Somerset magazines are all fabulous, they are little art museums that take my breath away! Sure hope I win, I haven't seen this In Love issue!

I love, love Somerset anything! This is neat and would be great to see. I actually have been inspired by many of their publications. I guess mostly I get my inspiration from other artists by searching printed publications like magazines, books and by visiting many blogs and flickr. Thanks for your generosity.

Happy Birthday Sharon! What a beautiful blog you have. I found you thru Dawn's blog, too.
I get my inspiration from many things..sometimes a story, photo, a pretty color that I may have seen somewhere. In this harried world we live in, it is such a blessing to be able to create, even the tiniest of things!
I would love to be entered in your very generous giveaway.
I am adding you to my favorites, as I am still working on my blog. Just need to take that big step!

Have a lovely birthday...love the music!
Take care,
Lynn

Hi Sharon! I've just only discovered your blog, and look forward to exploring! :-) This is a lovely giveaway...I've never read any of the Somerset magazines, and the cover of this one is especially enticing.

I get my creative inspiration from lots of places, but often from the many gorgeous decorating blogs I love to visit. It seems there is always something new to discover...a delightful online world, with a life all its own. And of course, I am inpired by my beloved horses. I have horse accents here and there, because a house is not a home without a herd of horses within eye shot of the windows! :-)

If I'm too far away for you to mail it, I will understand and come back to visit anyway : ). All the best to you~~Kathy

sometimes I'm inspired by a collection of colors that remind me of a place , sometimes an image will inspire a story in my mind. More often than not , that story will unfold as I work through a piece. Often I'm inspired by other artists.
Thank heavens your question wasn't 'how do you get it out of your head and onto the paper?' lol!

Hi Sharon:

I found you through Charlene and I just love your journals you just created!

I draw my inspiration through a lot of color I am surrounded by. Monday I was eating a purple popsicle and two hours later I was working on a new necklace with purple stones :)

I hope you have a lovely day and come visit me on my Blog when you have time!

Hi Sharon! I love your blog, which I found through Dawn. Blogs like yours and Dawns provide inspiration - it's so fun to see others develop ideas, and it often gives me a starting point to go my own way. Also, I work part-time on a real live farm (as a bookkeeper) and having nature and animals around is like working at Disneyland! Endless inspiration. One never knows how or when it will hit. Please enter me into your Somerset contest - they "get it"! Hugs, Cathy
